About | Eastwoodhill Arboretum
If you have a thing about trees then Eastwoodhill Arboretum is your place. Delight in 131 hectares of more than 25,000 species of exotic and native trees and shrubs. There are all sorts of walks, some nice and flat for the kids (mobility scooters can also get around on these ones) and others steep for those looking to work up a good sweat. With more than 25km of tracks – there’s something for everyone! The arboretum is alive with birdsong, look around and see if you can name them. There are more than 40 species, native and exotic, that visit and feast on the seeds, insects and berries in the forest.
Autumn is the best place to come visit. The colour of the leaves on the trees make the forest colourful and enchanting. The carpet floor has a layer of leaves on it and it rustles beneath your feet and blows softly with the gentle breeze with others floating down to join them. The autumn air is cool and chills your cheeks in the early mornings, breathe it all in and feel at peace in the middle of this magnificent forest. In saying that, the Eastwoodhill Arboretum is beautiful all year round. Planted by Douglas Cook, he started in 1910 and the Eastwoodhill Arboretum is now regarded as the largest and most comprehensive collection of Northern Hemisphere trees south of the equator.
A natural and beautiful playground, set amongst the trees is a great addition and will please the kids.
The cafe is open in autumn and there’s accommodation on site for those that wish to stay longer.
Open: 9am to 5pm.

Eastwoodhill Arboretum is something else. Upon first stepping foot in it you’re taken to what may seem like a magical place. Around every corner, there’s something new and exciting to see. The trees stand tall and there are so many different ones, all of them standing beautifully together. The place was absolutely gorgeous and peaceful in the early morning, it was a wonderful place to be and I’d be very eager to visit again.
I decided on the blue track as it went through a lot of the park and saw all of the best bits. The walk wasn’t too demanding and coming first thing in the morning, I only passed a couple on my way through. It was a truly beautiful place to be and I loved seeing all of the different trees.

Even just a short walk around the place had me excited for what was to come. And it just kept on delivering. I was kind of in heaven the whole time (be warned: lots of photos of trees up ahead!).
