Hunua Ranges Regional Park has a variety of walking and biking tracks for all levels. The park shows off some great views, waterfalls, dams, native forest and wildlife. The most popular attraction, the Hunua Falls, is only a minutes walk away. Pack a picnic, this is a great spot to enjoy lunch.
So either put on your walking shoes or bring your bike and enjoy the day exploring the Hunua Ranges Regional Park.

The Hunua Falls
The 30-metre Hunua Falls are spectacular. It’s the perfect spot to lay down a picnic with the family.
The Massey-Cossey Loop walk
We choose to do the Massey-Cossey Loop which was a 3 hour/8.3 kilometre loop walk. We rock hopped across the Cossey Creek, walked up a lot of stairs, saw a dam, and enjoyed a cool view of the dam below.
Along the walk, you’ll have to hop along rocks to cross the stream. Further along the stream, there are spots for the kids to explore or even go in for a little dip.
There were lots of stairs and up hill bits, but on the way back it’s all down which is nice.
Secret spot
As you make your way back home, you’ll drive past this hidden spot that not many know about. There’s no signage, no parking, just the side of a busy road. Walk down and you’ll find a lovely swimming hole the older kids will love. But note that because it’s so tucked away, nobody really cares for it and because of this it can be littered with trash. Please take your rubbish with you. You’ll find it along Hunua Road.
