About | Acacia Bay

Acacia Bay may not seem like much on first looks but get in the water and you’ll change your mind. Beautifully clear, this bay also has a pontoon and jetty to jump off. Bring a picnic mat or towel to lay on and let the kids explore.

Great spot for a picnic. Sit, relax and watch life on the lake. There are lots of ducks and swans around.

If you want to venture further, this is the spot that Taupo Kayaking Adventures has made their base and you’ll find plenty of kayaks for you to set off on a wild adventure, the Maori Rock Carvings being the favourite, or just wander around – the kids will be thrilled either way. They have everything you may need, but you may want to bring a dry bag for your things.

Toilets and BBQ facilities available.

Boat access at Acacia Bay South.

It’s hard to beat Taupo’s beautiful and clear waters. It’s such an amazing place to go for a swim. The pontoon and jetty get lots of action in summer but early in the morning, you’ll get the whole place to yourself.

Watching the ducks come and go, it was interesting to see them go about their lives. One of them had grabbed onto a long stick and was taking it off with it but it kept getting stuck in the weeds so he’d continually have to readjust it – it looked like hard work but he got there in the end.

This jetty was amazing and perfect for jumping off. Water, as always, looks amazing!
