About | Adventure Forest Whangarei
The Adventure Forest in Whangarei is hours of fun and thrills. With circuits designed for all ages, this is great for the whole family. Start right down low and make your way up higher into the forest. See if mum or dad is brave enough to do the high ones. The circuits start off really nice and easy and get harder and more difficult the higher you get up.
When you arrive staff will show you how it’s done and make sure you are comfortable with it before you head off to do it on your own.
And then it’s all up to you! Decide how far you want to push yourselves. Check out where the circuit goes and what challenges you come across before sending your child up – it’s nice and easy in the beginning but it definitely gets more difficult – showing them when they are low down that there is no way of them falling will help them when they’re high up and can’t quite do a challenge – they can always depend on their harness and just pull themselves across.
If they get stuck and don’t want to go any further don’t worry – the friendly staff have a ladder and will get up there to either get them down or encourage them on. Most of the time they really want to do it but just need a friendly and encouraging person next to them that can tell them the best and easiest way to get across.
Go with them if you can – having you by their side will help them go further and make it more fun. Going down the double zipline will be much more fun together. And plus, your neck won’t hurt so much from looking up all of the time – I learnt the hard way.
Bring snacks. You can stay for three hours, those three hours go by fast but you sure do get hungry so bring something along to keep you going. They have picnic tables for you to eat at.
Book in advance.

We packed the car the night before and left early from our home in Auckland to beat the weekend traffic heading north and arrived before the Adventure Forest opened at 10am, ready for the first session of the day.
We had 3 hours to check out the different levels, ride down the ziplines and face our fears. And those 3 hours just whizzed by.
The first few levels were really easy, low down to the ground and basically just lets the kids get the hang of things.
This photo is actually of one of the staff members helping Noah across. Noah was really scared about doing one part that was really tricky so the man came along with his ladder and encouraged him on and he did it!! So proud of him and thankful for the staff, he did a great job of helping him through it!
Before we left, Sam did the hardest and most difficult challenge and boy was it hard!
