About | Piha Beach
Piha Beach is a very popular black sand surf beach for both locals and tourists. It is very popular for surfing and lifeguards will be on patrol during summer but there can be rips and currents so be smart and stay safe while swimming in the water.
Bring your walking shoes and check out one of the bushwalks during your time here. Kitekite Falls, Mercer Bay Loop Walk and the Tasman Lookout Track are all great for the whole family.
Lion Rock stands over the beach, you are able to walk halfway up it. It also provides some great photo opportunities.
Pack a nice lunch to enjoy or you can grab a bite to eat at the beachside surf club.
Enjoy a fantastic day here at Piha Beach, there’s lots to do and places where you can grab a bite to eat, sunsets here on a clear day a pretty amazing, too!

North Piha
If you keep driving up to North Piha, the crowds will lessen and there are caves and rocks to explore at the end. There’s also a track at the end of the beach, this Laird Thomson Track will take you to a nice viewpoint and down to White’s Beach, which you’ll usually have all to yourself.
