Cheltenham Beach is a great family-friendly beach and a little slice of paradise. The water is wonderful, clear and calm, good for swimming. Enjoy and book and relax under one of the pohutukawa trees. Great views of Rangitoto Island.
Best to go at high tide for a good swim, during low tide the water stays shallow for a good bit (though this could be perfect for young ones).
Meander up to North Head to explore the tunnels.
Facilities: toilets. Cold showers to rinse off after you’ve had a swim. Cafe.
Dog friendly.

We really enjoyed this beach, the sun was out, small, clear waves were rolling in. I relaxed on the beach while Ash collected seashells. Beautiful day.
