Usually, if you’re going to describe Auckland in one photo, you’d pick a photo of the city but the way I see Auckland is so much more different. As a nature lover, I skip or go around the hustle and bustle and find the most fascinating places that will have you seeing Auckland in a different perspective, too. Auckland is such a big place and has something for everyone, so don’t skip it, you might find that you actually really like it.
If you’re thinking of spending you’re days kayaking and swimming at the beach, the water is nice and calm on the east side. My favourite beaches are further north, Te Arai, Goat Island and Tawharanui are all fantastic. If you’re more of a walker, the Waitakere Ranges is sure to please. Go west, and you’ll find wild seas and breathtaking views. Looking for entertainment and you’ve come to the right place, Auckland has lots of it, from markets, family attractions and indoor activities.

Activities
There is lots to explore, do and see in Auckland. Have a look around the map to see!
Up north, you’ll find lots of beautiful beaches with good swimming and good surf, so bring your boogie boards! There’s also a very special place at Goat Island, where you can go snorkelling and see plenty of fish.
Out West and you’ll get the rough and wild back sand beaches, perfect for kids who love to explore. Here you’ll find Auckland’s highest cliffs. Head into the Waitakere Ranges on one of there many walks, there are some really cool gems to be found in there!
East and Central Auckland is for shopping, more beaches (though a lot more crowded) and lots of cool attractions like the Zoo, MOTAT or the Auckland Museum. Or head up the Sky Tower for awesome views of the city!
Go South and there’s still plenty of attractions to check out like Rainbow’s End, Vector Wero, and the Botanic Gardens. They also have some great rugged black sand beaches to explore and the highest sand dunes in Auckland.
