Hawke’s Bay

Hawke’s Bay has lots to offer families. Head on over to the marine reserve, this place will keep the kids entertained for days. There’s a skatepark, playgrounds, aquarium, pools, walkways, gardens and lots more, so take your bikes or skateboards and go for a wander and see for yourself.

Hawke’s Bay has a great water theme park, Splash Planet, great for a day out. Or if you’re looking for something more relaxing, they have pools set amongst native bush and another one with sea views.

If you’re a nature lover, there are plenty of walks to explore for the whole family. Te Mata Peak will take your breath away!

 

Weather

Hawke’s Bay has some of New Zealand’s best and most consistent weather. Summer bringing some of the driest and warmest temperatures in the country and winter, with blue-skies and crisp mornings has average rainfall.

Hawke’s Bay generally sees upwards of 2,250 hours of sunshine each year – among the highest anywhere in New Zealand. The highest ever recorded temperature was 38.0 degrees in January 1979!

In summer, average highs will be about 22°C / 72°F with average lows at 13°C / 55°F. Summer is great for hitting the beach, playing criket, visiting wineries and dining outdoors.

In winter, the average high is at 14°C / 58°F, average low at 5°C / 40°F.

You’ll find lots of things to full the itinerary at Hawkes Bay, with lots of nature walks, cool playgrounds, beaches and bike tracks.

If you’re looking for awesome lookouts that will take your breath away, they’ve got plenty of those too, Te Mata Peak is an absolute stunner with its rolling hills and beautiful countryside.

Stroll down Marine Parade and take your pick, pools, golf or bike track? It’ll be hard to pull them away but when you do you’ll know they’ve had one awesome day.
