About | Otarawairere Bay

The beautiful Otarawairere Bay neighbours the more popular Ohope Beach and is accessible only by foot or kayak making it more secluded and hidden away. People make their way up the headland to get away from the crowds and set off on a little adventure.

You’ll need to start at the western end of Ohope Beach and work your way up and around the headland and then back down where you reach Otarawairere Bay. There’s a beautiful lookout point with views over Ohope Beach, village and out towards the ocean.

Before arriving you’ll have already had glimpses of Otarawairere Bay from up above. Find shade under the pohutukawa tree and let the kids have a go on the rope swing.

Bring a picnic, go for a swim, relax on the beach or go explore the rocks pools and see what you can find.

The Otarawairere Bay walk is a part of the Kohi Point Walkway which is also a part of a larger network of walks that form the Nga Tapuwae o Toi or Footsteps of Toi Walkway.
