About | Ohakune Carrot Adventure Park
Come and check out the different vegetable characters at the funky, cool and colourful Ohakune Carrot Adventure Park, the biggest one being hard to miss.
The famous 7.5-metre carrot stands as a tribute to Ohakune’s biggest crop, being erected in 1984 and as quickly become NZ’s most hugged “Big Things’. Carrots were first grown in the 1920s and Ohakune now grows two-thirds of the North Island’s total crop.
Since 2016, the carrot park expanded, and now has a stunning playground, BMX track, pump track, outdoor gym, picnic spots, walkways and lots of smaller vegetable friends for the big carrot.

We came to the Ohakune Carrot Adventure Park later in the day, after a full day of activities. It was the perfect way to end the day. As the sun dipped lower into the sky, the kids scrambled from one thing to the next, joyous about how cool everything was.
The Ohakune Carrot Adventure Park meets up with the Dave Scott Pathway, which runs along a beautiful creek and just a short walk to the town where you can grab something quick to eat, enjoy on the picnic tables which are right by the beautiful stream, then continue playing.
There are big and bright vegetable characters throughout the adventure park, giving it a funky and fun feel and also creating lots of cool, quirky photo opportunities.
This is a great spot to have lunch. Right by the stream, you can listen to the lovely sounds of the water flowing down the stream.
The sun dropped lower and it was soon time to go home, but not until we got a photo with the Big Carrot!
