About | Papamoa Beach
Papamoa Beach is located just down the coast from Mount Maunganui, it has all of the same lovely features but a lot less crowded. There’s 16km of pristine beach so lots of room to kick a ball or play some beach cricket. Favourite activities here include swimming, surfing, fishing or just walking and playing along the beach. The water is a beautiful turquoise colour, it’s lovely to just sit and watch the waves come in. There’s also a lovely view of Mount Maunganui and Whale Island.
Papamoa Beach can be a nice, safe beach to swim at but strong rips can form so stay safe, and swim within the patrolled area (by the surf lifesaving club). If there’s good surf, older kids will love riding along the waves with their boogie boards.
So bring some sunscreen, find a spot in the sand with a good book or help the kids make a sandcastle, decorated with the many shells lying on the beach and enjoy a day out at the beautiful Papamoa Beach.
